Aerial Platform Tracks

Aerial work platforms, also known as elevating work platforms, mobile elevating work platforms or aerial devices, are commonly used to provide access for people and equipment at height. There are multiple types of aerial platforms, such as individual small-scale platforms or mechanized access platforms that provide more space and greater possibilities.

Although the main purpose of an aerial platform may seem similar to that of an elevator, they are mostly used for convenient, temporary access for construction or maintenance purposes. It is not a secret that such platforms are of an amazing help to firefighters, granting emergency access when and wherever necessary. Since operation and setting up usually don’t require more than one person, an aerial platform is the ideal solution for quick utility vehicle. It is important to note, however, that unlike cranes, which have huge lift power, most aerial platforms can handle only limited weights – below a ton in most cases.

Aerial devices are the most popular type of aerial platforms. They are most commonly seen on construction and maintenance sites, exclusively in the telecommunications and power industries. The main feature of this type of platform is hydraulic pistons. These are usually powered by gasoline or diesel motors installed on the base unit, but there are also electrically powered models, which are used for lightweight tasks. A nickname for this type of platform is quite popular – cherry picker. It originates from its wide use in orchards in the past, where it aided the task of picking fruit from high trees.

Scissor lifts are another popular type of aerial platforms. The main difference is that they can only move vertically through a series of criss-cross supports. The upward movement is achieved by pressure to the lowest of supports, which serves to propel the platform vertically.

All operators and manufacturers of aerial platforms follow strict safety criteria. Apart from a special license, required to operate and work with one such vehicle, the machine must often go through maintenance checks and be superbly equipped in order to guarantee 100% safe and productive work.

One part of all aerial platforms, which has to be of top quality, is the tracks. McLaren’s aerial platform tracks represent a top-tier solution for this type of vehicle.

  • Next Generation Rubber Tracks – it is important for a track pattern to provide stability and safe work. That is exactly what McLaren’s rubber aerial platform tracks aim to do. These specially developed tracks significantly reduce undercarriage vibrations. Compared to other patterns, this one truly makes a difference. Since a smooth ride is guaranteed, so is the increased effectiveness of the machine and easier work with it. With size varying from 180mm to 230mm in width, it is important to note that these rubber aerial platform tracks feature the SpoolRite Belting Technology, which consists of a continuous steel belt with zero overlapping joints. What this means is that unlike other tracks, these are not prone to break as there aren’t any weak points anywhere on the steel cable. This makes the tracks extremely durable and safe. Since aerial platforms are often required indoors, McLaren’s rubber aerial platform tracks also come in non-marking option. Polished surfaces, indoor floors, parquet and other sensitive surfaces are completely safe with the non-marking rubber tracks option. Most OEM tests show that McLaren’s rubber aerial platform tracks outperform other aftermarket tracks of similar class. This makes the Next Generation tracks series the most reliable option in terms of value for the money and improving the productiveness of the machine.
  • Maximizer Rubber Tracks – for those looking for a viable alternative to other tracks, there is the Maximizer series. With track size portfolio ranging from 180mm to 230mm in width, this product represents the best and most cost-effective aftermarket option for aerial rubber tracks. They have been specially designed to feature a continuous steel belt, which provides strength, durability and maximum integrity without any risk for track break. The reliability of these tracks is also guaranteed by the specially formulated rubber compound that they are made of. It is of extremely high quality and there is also by up to 30% more rubber than other tracks of the same class.
